4-7 pm
Evergreen Park, 1400 Park Ave, Bremerton WA

It’s National Farmers Market Week! Come on down to the park today and support your local farmers!

SNAP customers, stop by the Market Booth for a fun giveaway!

We have a new vendor today: My name is Diane and I love caramel! My business is called Mythical Caramels because my candy is the stuff of legends. We make classic flavors like vanilla and salted caramel, as well as flavors like Sriracha, mocha, and cherry lemonade, just to name a few. I have bags of soft chewy caramels (which are dental-work friendly!) and jars of caramels sauces, also in various flavors. I am looking forward to getting to know the Bremerton Market and community!

Today’s musician:Someone” is a solo artist that started writing & preforming music in 2012 from Milwaukee WI. Influenced by many 60s bands and pop punk bands, “Someone” has 3 original albums & plays covers spanning from the 1950’s through present day. Most recently in June of 2021 the lone member of “Someone” (Ryan Sellers) relocated from WI to Puyallup, WA.
Ryan will be playing for tips so be sure to bring cash to reward him for his talents and his time!

Community Booth: Bremerton’s Cub Scout Pack 4181 is for boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade. Cub Scouts helps children develop positive values and moral character while experiencing the great outdoors. Your kid can do what they love with Cub Scouts: hike, bike, play games, STEM projects, and more. Stop by their booth to learn more!

Evergreen Park, 1400 Park Ave, Bremerton WA

Music is back at the market today with Fred Meyer, the “Hurdy Gurdy Man”! If you’re unfamiliar with this interesting instrument, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaimDvm6Re4. He’ll be playing for tips so be sure to bring cash to reward him for his talents and his time!

The Parks Department will be with us with information about becoming a Creative District. The Creative District Program works to help communities throughout the state thrive. Certification as a Creative District can bolster our creative economy, enhance vitality, and improve livability. This program provides a platform for artists and creatives to help develop their local economy. Come find out more at the market!

We’ll also have The Kitsap Community Food Co-op. They are a community-owned grocery store that serves the community’s needs, not the needs of big corporations. They source their products as close to home as possible, and are the first daily, year-round outlet for Kitsap County farms. By sourcing locally, selling sustainable and natural products, and sending any profits back to the community, food co-ops keep food money in the local economy, instead of heading straight out of it. Stop by their booth to learn more!

4-7 pm
Evergreen Park, 1400 Park Ave, Bremerton WA
Our second vaccine clinic is today! Plus, the League of Women Voters of Kitsap County will be sharing information and will have voter registration paperwork again this week.

In case you missed it last week: In following with the updated Washington state guidelines, our market is “opening back up”. When you visit today, you will no longer see caution tape surrounding the market footprint (yay!), there will no longer just be two entrances (yay!), and you are welcome to bring a chair, eat a snack, and enjoy being around your community (yay! yay! yay!). We’re excited to be getting back to normal. However, we’re still encouraging unvaccinated individuals to continue wearing masks and to physically distance while at the market. And of course, anyone who feels more comfortable wearing a mask is welcome to do so. Please note: some vendors may not feel comfortable doing business with those who are unmasked and will display a sign stating that a mask is required at their booth.

You may be asking “what about music?” Well, with a rough 2020 season, we did not budget for musicians this year. So, if you know of any musicians who would like to busk, please have them email the market manager at manager@bremertonmarket.com
We would also love more hot food vendors! If you know of any, let us know!

Walk-Up Vaccination Clinic
Kitsap Public Health will be with us TODAY administering second doses to those who got the jab at the market last month as well as administering vaccines to those 12 and up! No appointment necessary! Everyone who gets vaccinated gets a free Kitsap Transit pass, a lunch box from Kaiser Permanente, and a very cool BCFM vaccination sticker 🙂

The market will run the Kids Market Bucks a take home activity once a month on the 1st Thursday of each month. For 2021 there will be a total of 4 months of activties, June, July, August and September. Extra Full Participation of all 4 months Prizes to be awarded the first Thursday in October (October 7, 2021)
Program will benefit children 3yrs – 12 yrs old, with an emphasis on healthy eating and living activities. Each monthly activity will differ. Kids Market Bucks are good for: fresh fruits, veggies, and edible plant starts. Each child is eligible for $4/month.

Participants visit the kids market bucks booth/market information booth each week the activity is offered. They will each have a “Passport to Health” to log attendance and completion of weekly activities. There will be an extra prize given at the end of market season to those kids that have attended all 4 monthly activities. Passports are kept at the market.

Kids are empowered to make healthier food choices on their own by having direct buying power with the market bucks. So what exactly is our Kids Market Bucks Club?
MARKETS GROW HEALTHY KIDS!

The Bremerton Farmers Market’s Kids Market Bucks programs purpose is to educate and encourage children to take part in their local food system, meet the farmers that grow their food, and understand the benefits of eating healthy, nutritious foods.

Passports are kept at the market so participants don’t have to remember to bring them back each week.

Kids are empowered to make healthier food choices on their own by having direct buying power with the market bucks. Through the activities provided monthly, they are exposed to healthier food options and healthier lifestyle behaviors which will provide them a solid foundation and enhance their food literacy.

A few reminders regarding our continued safety measures for our community:

Face masks are required to enter the market, we will have sanitizing stations at the entrances/exits and we ask that you physically distance from those not in your household.
Unfortunately no pets are allowed inside the market
(service animals are always allowed)
