Are you passionate about supporting a sustainable and viable local economy?

Consider joining the BCFM Board and help us continue making a positive impact in our community!

The Bremerton Community Farmers Market is a fabulously welcoming and bustling market tucked among the trees and beside the sea at Evergreen-Rotary Park. Each Thursday from May to October we offer a market bursting with great vendors, music, educational opportunities, kids’ activities, and more. The market is responsibly managed with an eye to offering innovative programs and initiatives for our community. Our board is fun and forward-thinking, and we enjoy the work we do.

Qualified candidates have a passion for local, sustainable agriculture and the enthusiasm and drive to make things happen. We are looking for committed community members able to inspire others and build community relationships. We are looking for the following skills:

  • Ability to work well as a team to reach prudent decisions that further the BCFM’s mission
  • A background in finance, marketing and/or fundraising are strongly preferred.
  • Business or non-profit experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of budgets, short and long-range planning, policy development

Board member responsibilities require an average commitment of about 6-8 hours per month, for a three year term. Duties include attending monthly board meetings, plus other tasks as assigned (based on your skills and interest) such as working in committees, community outreach, special events planning, program planning and implementation.

3rd Annual Art Contest

 

The Bremerton Community Farmers Market (BCFM) is holding our 3rd Annual Art Design Contest and need your help to ensure we have an amazing food inspired piece of artwork to feature on our one of a kind 2020 market shirt! Not only will the design be viewed on shirts used for fundraising this season, but it will also be featured as part of this year’s market poster, postcards, and other promotional materials throughout 2020.

Our Humble Prize for the Winning Artwork:

  • $50 worth of Bremerton Community Farmers Market tokens, good for spending at any BCFM market vendor booth.
  • Recognition on our website and social media platform throughout the 2020 season
  • The warm fuzzy feeling of helping out a local organization with your talents – plus the joy of watching everyone look awesome in your unique design!

Design Criteria:

  • The following text (somewhere in your design): Bremerton Community Farmers Market (emphasis on COMMUNITY!)
  • Original artwork design
  • Three colors maximum
  • 300 DPI
  • If submitting hand drawn art, should fill 8 ½ x 11-inch paper

Things You Should Avoid Including:

  • Do NOT use photos
  • Do NOT use stock images or clip art
  • Do NOT submit copyrighted work
  • Do NOT include graphic/offensive art/images

Include full name in your submission email along with any contact info needed for us to get a hold of you.

If your design is selected, we reserve the right to use your design in any manner, including but not limited to: reproducing the design, selling items bearing the design, changing or reworking the design by making color or size changes, making derivative works of the design, using the design on the Bremerton Community Farmers Market website and on promotional materials.

Thanks for a great Season

Thank you for all the community support!!

A huge thank you to our community sponsors, partners, volunteers, vendors, and customers.  2019 has been one of our most successful seasons yet and we could not have done it without you. It was our second year of the Kids Market Bucks Club and we served and educated over 515 children throughout the season about the importance of fresh foods and a healthy lifestyle. We have continued to grow our vendor base in hopes of providing our community with even more fresh, nutritious, locally grown options for their families. We are already looking forward to 2020 and hope to see you each Thursday May through mid-October for more farmers market fun!

Bremerton Community Farmers Market by the Numbers 2019:

  • 17075 Total Attendees with an average of 775 per market
  • 515 kids served through Kids Market Bucks Program
    • 15 kids participated in ALL 6 the kids market days, earning a special prize!
    • $3102 dollars provided to kids to spend on fruits and vegetables
  • $1802 Fresh bucks incentive program provided to low income shoppers to spend on fresh produce
  • Kitsap Harvest- 782 pounds donated which is valued at $1305.94
  • 23 markets with live music
  • Average of 25 vendors per market
  • 130 community organization booths
  • 69 unique booths/vendors

Final 2019 BCFM October 10th, 2019

Its our final market of 2019! Make sure to stop by and say hello and stock up from your favorite farmers, artisans, wineries, and food vendors before we say goodbye until next spring. Mike “Burdman” Burdorff will be playing in the music tent.

September 26th –Back to School Night at the Market
Yoga at the Market & Acoustic Jam   

We have lots of exciting things happening at the market this week!

The market is partnering with Naval Avenue Early Learning Center and the Bremerton School District to put on a fun filled evening of good food, music, and kids activities in celebration of another new school year.

We will have our regular line-up of vendors, local non-profits geared towards families and kids, and a bunch of fun activities, including:
– Krys Kreations Face Painting & Parties – face painting for all ages
– Handy Andy Magic Man – Balloons twister extraordinaire!
– Kitsap Harvest – will be running a “Fresh Food Donation” drive. Bring your garden-fresh goodies to donate to those in need, or purchase some from our farm vendors.
– WSU Master Gardeners – on hand for garden education for those that want to start growing food!
– Naval Avenue Early Learning Center – fun, interactive kids health and wellness activity and info
-Naval Avenue Early Learning Center PTA
– Bremerton Backpack Brigade – program info and activity
– Kitsap Public Health District – interactive kids game

In addition to all those great activities we will have our monthly offering of Yoga at the Market, brought to you by Indigo Moon Yoga. This is an all ages, all levels event happening in the large green space behind our vendor booths starting at 5:45pm.

This week’s musicians will be gathering under our Music at the Market tent from 3:30pm to 6:30pm as part of our monthly community Acoustic Jam session. Bring your instrument and a friend to this all ages, all styles event and rock out with us.

Chef at the Market

We have another fun market day planned for you today from 3:30pm to 6:30pm down at Evergreen Park. Monica Downen, local chef and owner of Monica’s Waterfront Bakery & Café, will be joining us for our July Chef at the Market event. She will be working her culinary magic on fresh products found at our farm vendors stalls this week – products that you can easily acquire and try out in your own homes. Demos take place at 5pm and 6pm under the Chef at the Market tent, sponsored this season by our partners at Peninsula Community Health Services, Molina Healthcare, and The Manette Clinic. Make sure to stick around after the demo and sample her creations!
