June is here and you know what that means? Produce will soon be showing up in the Market in abundance. Last I checked with Start Now and Harlow Gardens, their tomatoes were running neck and neck – who will be the first to bring tomatoes to Market?
Until then, all of the farm vendors have produce – mostly greens – for your dinner plates and salad bowls; even Old Wheelbarrow, although you’ll have to sacrifice a bigger head later in favor of small greens now. Pheasant Fields Farm has an amazing array of Asian and mustard greens, as well as lettuce, pak choy, and herbs.
Also, coming to Market soon are the blooms and produce of Ders Garden, a Poulsbo and Silverdale farmers market favorite. Summer color, in all varieties, is just on the verge of bursting forth. So, come on down to the Market and discover what surprises the vendors have in store for you!
The Bremerton Farmers Market Board is also proud to announce food stamp redemption and debit/credit payment options will be available in the Market starting – fingers crossed – next week. More information about EBT/debit/credit will be available next week, in the eNews and on our website.

Viking Feast Ice Cream – The pints were very successful last week and so this week Thormod & Asta are expanding the selection to include all four flavors for those who want to enjoy the Viking invasion at home! This week’s flavors are the very popular Frozen Fudge and Lemon Cream, in addition to two new flavors: Toffee Invasion (milk chocolate-covered toffee in vanilla) and Fortress of Oreos (Oreos packed into vanilla). What is Skyr? Thormod describes it as being similar to frozen Greek yogurt; according to Wikipedia, it is a cultured dairy product, which is technically a soft cheese. Skyr is a unique treat for your taste buds, and a popular product at the market – come early to make sure you get some before it sells out, again!
